6年前、モロッコで滞在制作したときの展示で、お金を稼ぐことより、どうしたら「欲しい」という感情を引き出すことができるのか、それを知りたくて、物々交換を条件に設定していた。お金を払わなければ「欲しい」という感情が出てきやすくなる。無料でも欲しくないものは欲しくない。
モロッコの展示では、レジデンスのオーナージェフが交換を申し出てくれた。すっかり忘れていたのだけれど、ジェフから昨日メールが届いた。
「作品を交換すると言って、あれから6年やっと絵が描けた。もしかしたら呆れて怒っているかもだけど、久しぶりだしZOOMで話でもしよう」
と書いてあった。交換したことすら忘れていた。
自由な暮らしをしている身分になって、やりたいことは湧き水のように溢れている。そのなかのひとつに英語という課題がある。適当には勉強しているけど、Netflixを英語字幕で観たり、英語の歌詞を訳してみたり。来週、ジェフとZOOMで会話するので、英語で近況を書いてみることにした。酷い英語なのは承知。あるとき、英語圏の人に英語が下手だからというようなことを言ったら、返された。
「英語圏の８０％が第二言語として英語を使用している。だから、ネイティブなんてのは逆に少なくて、みんなデタラメな英語を話しているんだよ。誰もそんなことで笑ったりしないよ」
Now Chifumi and I are living in countryside where name is Kitaibaraki city. It took from Tokyo 3 hours by a car. Kitaibaraki city is sorrunding small mountain and on pacific ocean. Pople live with nature, like cultuvate and fising ... These are almost my imagenations. To tell the truth, Only old generation live with nature so young generation live in the town.
I'm working with city office. Because their plan is to make better city with art. We moved this town 3years ago. Now we are living in the small village in this city. almost people want to live city. so in Japan so many countryside might disappear as town and village.
6 years ago, We traveled around Mediterranean sea, stayed Spain, Italy, Zambia, Egypt, Morocco. That time, I understand way of livings are very different in the world. It is diversity, It is natural system. That time, I understand way of livings are very different in the world. at Morocco, with a help you and green olive art, we stayed a week countryside. we wanted homestay because we wanted to know local daily life. you introduced to us a family. that house was modern family. That was very comfortable. They realized what we want, so they offered us to go countryside.
That way we experienced local moroccan life. They cultivate land to get vegetables, They make oven with earth, water and fire to get bread. Ride a horse, kill the sheep, on the ground smithery.
Like this, I found what art is. Art is to make living, to make useful things from around ourselves. This might be my strange imagination. so I had to practice this concept in Japan. Therefore when I went back Japan, we started to make our own lifestyle.
Art can create the reality in front of you, "not us, each of you and me". Like a to make paintings or sculptures by imaginations.
